MP Tim Farron was met by hundreds of campaigners after completing
his 40-mile trek from Preston to Kendal in the latest leg of his bid
for a £15m cancer unit at Westmorland General Hospital.

Mr Farron, who represents Westmorland and Lonsdale, arrived at
Kirkbie Kendal School this morning, where he was met by an estimated
300 fellow campaigners. They then marched to WGH where Mr Farron handed health officials a
petition signed by more than 7,000 residents in support of the cancer
unit.

Mr Farron said the aim of his walk, which began at the Rosemere
cancer unit at Royal Preston Hospital, was to highlight the distance
South Lakeland patients had to travel for specialist cancer treatment.
